Technology Transfer in Diagnostic Pathology 1st Central European Regional Meeting

Liver & Pancreas Pathology
organized by the Hungarian Division of the International Academy of Pathology

Eger, June 1-3, 2006

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

I am very pleased to announce the 1st Central European Regional Meeting on Liver & Pancreas Pathology which will be held on June 1-2-3, 2006 in the town of Eger.
Eger is an important historical and cultural center of the Northern part of Hungary, approximately 130 kms from Budapest. The world famous wine, the Eger Bull's Blood and other excellent wines are produced in this region. Owing to its many spas, its castle and its minaret, Eger is a popular tourist resort all year round.
The Meeting will focus on the practical clinicopathological aspects of liver and pancreatic diseases. Such important issues as reversibility of fibrosis, effects of treatment, necessity of biopsy will be discussed. Among the highlights of the Meeting will be the differential diagnosis of hepatic and pancreatic tumors and premalignant alterations presented by highly recognized experts, in active interaction with the attendants.
The poster presentations will be reviewed and discussed individually by the participants.
We hope that the success of this Meeting will facilitate further meetings and workshops in the Central-European region, where East and West can meet, bringing together pathologists and clinicians for stimulating discussions in the field of both pathology and clinical practice.
The challenging task before us is to organize an interesting scientific program, and we hope the Meeting will prove to be a rewarding and enjoyable experience for you.
We do look forward to welcoming you in Eger in 2006.

Eger
Beautiful surroundings, impressive atmosphere, wine growing, city of spas and hospitality of its citizens, this is the town of Eger today.
The history of the town goes back to the 11th century. Since then Eger has always played an important role in the history of Hungary. Eger Castle and the delicate minaret remind us of the fight against Turkish rule in the 16th-17th century. Eger has been a significant centre of the church for centuries being an archbishopric since 1804.
Wineries cannot go without mention when talking about Eger. One of the bestknown and most prestigious wines produced in the region around the town is the claret, Eger Bull's Blood. In the Valley of the Fair Woman, where the wine cellars and taverns are, visitors are always welcome for wine tasting.
Eger became a health resort in the Middle Ages and the spas remained popular throughout the centuries.

Location of the Congress
Hotel Eger & Park
Eger, Szálloda út 1-3. H-3300
